This year’s election of Miss aniSearch of the year, Mister aniSearch of the year, anime series of the year, anime movie and – our newest category – sequel of the year 2022 has come to an end. You’ve voted for your favourites and now it’s time to announce the winners. And drum roll please! Around 340 participants cast a total of over 1600 votes to decide the five winners of 2022! A big thank you to all aniSearch members who participated in the poll! And now may I introduce … these are your winners of the year 2022:Anime series of the year 2022:

Second place goes to “Spy x Family”. It’s not a win, but that doesn’t mean Family Forger hasn’t wormed its way into our hearts. Who can say no to a dapper spy, an elegant assassin and a droll mind reader? Let’s hope the family is more successful in their mission!
The video game-based “Cyberpunk: Edgerunners” manages to bring home the bronze medal – and with only one vote more than “Lycoris Recoil”, which the Japanese fans voted as their anime of the year! Well, as the saying goes: close, but no banana.
Anime movie of the year 2022:

After “Jujutsu Kaisen” failed to make it to the anime series of the year in 2020, its prequel “Jujutsu Kaisen 0” finally takes gold for the Tokyo Prefectural Jujutsu High School, albeit in a different category: “Jujutsu Kaisen 0” is your anime movie of the year 2022! Exorcist Yuta and his lovely curse goddess Rika won by a narrow margin.
With only 10 votes less, we have a tie for second place! Even though the laid-back comedy “Laid-Back Camp Movie” and the VR drama “Belle” couldn’t be more different, they share the silver podium with about 15% of the votes.
Third place goes to the 14th film in the popular “One Piece” franchise: “One Piece: Red”. But who else deserves this place, if not our favourite pirate gang? The anime about Luffy and his crew also simply never gets boring – even after the 10th filler episode!
Sequel of the year 2022:

After losing in 2019, the love battle between Kaguya Shinomiya and Miyuki Shirogane finally manages to pull off the victory! With ten more votes than the runner-up, the third season of “Kaguya-sama: Love Is War” takes the gold medal to the student speaker’s office at Shuchiin Academy, making it your sequel of the year 2022!
The sequel in second place also wants to join the fray, and so the rumbling of the (not-quite-so) final season of “Attack on Titan” is hot on the heels of our lovebirds. We can look forward to another sequel this year – probably because our Survey Corps wants to fight in the aS election again in 2023.
Close behind the Titans, the all-powerful ruler of the Mage Kingdom, Lord Ains Ooal Gown, ranks third in your favourite sequels with the fourth season of “Overlord”. Despite the crushing defeat, he will always remain our Isekai King at heart. Straighten your crown and move on!
Miss aniSearch 2022:
Who would have guessed it? High school student Marin Kitagawa surprisingly wins the title of anime series of the year and Miss aniSearch 2022! The cosplay mouse receives a third of all the votes and thus beats the other candidates by a margin of over 50 votes. But no fun now: no surprise, she has two convincing arguments! By the way: Marin had already won the vote for ID 104,000!
As with the anime series of the year, sweet Anya only makes it to second place. Instead of promoting herself, she probably preferred to watch Bondman on his new missions! At least she doesn’t have a Tonitrus waiting for her here. Cheerful as she is, she will not let her second place get her down and will continue to do her best (undercover) in the new year.
The third place is occupied by the first-class Lycoris Chisato Nishikigi from “Lycoris Recoil”, who holds her own against our Thorn Princess Yor Briar with only one vote more. So she manages what the anime doesn’t and just barely gets a place on the podium. But it’s kind of nasty to separate mother and daughter …
Mister aniSearch 2022:
As in 2020, there is an absolute winner this year: secret agent Twilight from “Spy x Family” receives 107 votes under the alias Loid Forger and, with more than a third of the votes, takes the gold medal and thus also the title of Mister aniSearch 2022 to Berlint! His affectionate manner must have simply crept into our hearts.
Although “The Eminence in Shadow” has held on to the number 1 spot for almost 12 weeks, Cid Kagenou only makes it to second place – and only with a third of Loid’s votes. Did he perhaps just imagine the vote?
Third place is once again shared by two gentlemen: cyborg David Martinez from “Cyberpunk: Edgerunners” and Crown Prince Wein Salem Arbalest of Nattra from “The Genius Prince’s Guide to Raising a Nation Out of Debt” both receive three votes less than Cid Kagenou and thus barely make it onto the podium.
