Yo Hinomura es el asesino de una organización china llamada "Los 108 dragones", el nombre clave de Yo dentro de la organización es Crying Freeman, ya que después de cada asesinato que comete llora.
Cuando Yo esta llevando a cabo el asesinato del hijo de un jefe de la mafia japonesa, Emu O’hara presencia el acto y aunque Yo se presenta cordialmente con ella esto significa que debe matarla ya que nadie debe de conocer el rostro de el asesino de los 108 dragones, esto no se lleva a cabo por que cae perdidamente enamorado de ella así como ella de él, es entonces cuando inicia su lucha por liberarse del yugo de la organización y contra la mafia japonesa que busca venganza contra él y así poder estar con la mujer que ama.
