Das verwaiste Mädchen Resine entscheidet sich dazu, dasselbe Internat, auf dem einst ihre Mutter war, zu besuchen. Dort muss sie sich ein Zimmer mit der streitsüchtigen Simone teilen, die keine Gelegenheit auslässt, Resine das Leben schwer zu machen. Bei einer Aufführung für das Stück »Romeo & Julia« wird Resine als Julia und Simone als Romeo ausgewählt. Dabei kommen sich die beiden nach anfänglichen Schwierigkeiten endgültig näher, was viele Probleme mit sich bringt.
