Tokuma Shoten Publishing Co., Ltd. is a Japanese publishing house which was founded in 1954.
It used to be the mother company of the film studio Daiei Motion Pictures which was bought in 1974 and of the music company Tokuma Japan Communications, which they bought in 1972. After the death of company founder Yasuyoshi Tokuma in 2000, Daiei Motion Pictures was sold to Kadokawa Shoten in 2002, whereas Tokuma Japan Communications went to Daiichikosho in 2001.
Studio Ghibli which they bought in 1999 and temporarily owned became independent once again in 2005.
Its headquarters is currently situated in the Minato ward of Toyko.
