Naoto Hachiouji ist ein ruhiger und schüchterner Schüler. Er ist das einzige Mitglied des Kunstclubs der Schule – abgesehen von der Präsidentin, natürlich. Er ist künstlerisch begabt und verbringt viel Zeit damit, alleine in einem Raum des Schulclubs zu zeichnen. Aufgrund seiner schüchternen Natur fällt es ihm schwer, mit anderen in Interaktion zu treten und Selbstvertrauen aufzubauen.

Sein Schulleben verlief ruhig und ereignislos, bis er Nagatoro kennenlernte, die sein Leben völlig auf den Kopf stellte. Sie sucht ungefragt seine Nähe und mag es, ihn zu necken und in Verlegenheit zu bringen. Nagatoros Hänseleien bringen ihn oft aus der Fassung, aber sie weckt auch sein Interesse und ermutigt ihn, seine Komfortzone zu verlassen.
