Taira ist Bassist und ein Freund von Ryuusuke. Dieser möchte Taira unbedingt in seiner neuen Band BECK als Mitglied haben, da er in Tairas Fertigkeiten als Bassist ein großes Talent erkennt. Taira weiß jedoch darum und stellt als Bedingung, dass die Band einen guten Sänger aufweist. Daher bemüht sich Ryuusuke und wirbt Taira später als erstes Mitglied von BECK an. Trotz seines jungen Alters weist Taira schon eine Menge an Bühnenerfahrung auf und entpuppt sich als extrem zuverlässiger und sicherer Bassist, dessen drückende Basslinien den Sound der Band nach vorne treiben.
