Gretia Dietrich, gemeinhin „Letty“ genannt, ist 23 Jahre alt und stammt aus dem Süden Deutschlands (vermutlich Bayern). Sie ist eine Hexe. Im Allgemeinen nutzt sie ihre magischen Fähigkeiten, um sich die kleinen Dinge des Alltags zu erleichtern und nicht in der Absicht, sich damit „Macht“ oder „Reichtum“ zu verschaffen.

Letty ist eine große Architekturliebhaberin und vernarrt in die Architektur alter japanischer Schreine, weshalb sie sich zurzeit auf einer Bildungsreise durch Japan befindet. Als sie auf ihrer Reise zum Schrein des Berggottes gelangt, dessen Zugang durch eine magische Barriere versperrt wird, hegt sie daher auch keine böse Absicht, als sie aus Neugier die Barriere durchbricht. Sie will sich nur kurz umsehen und schnell wieder verschwinden, bevor jemand ihr unbefugtes Eindringen in die geweihte Stätte bemerkt. Zu ihrer Überraschung muss Letty jedoch feststellen, dass der Schrein nicht so verlassen ist, wie sie glaubte, als sie unverhofft auf das Tempelmädchen, Tsumugi, trifft ...
