Während Yaichirou Shimogomo und sein Onkel um die vakante Position des kommenden Nise-emon streiten, übernimmt Yasaka in der Zeit, in der diese Position nicht belegt wird, die Rolle des stellvertretenden Nise-emon, die er seit dem Ableben von Souichirou Shimogomo innehat. Selber hat er weder Bestrebungen danach, diese Position später selber auszufüllen, noch zeigt er generelles Interesse an irgendwelchen Machtbefugnissen, so sorgt er einfach nur für den reibungslosen Ablauf der kommenden Wahl und dass die Tanukis handlungsfähig bleiben und nicht alles im Chaos endet. Aufgrund seines kaum zu übersehenden Faibles für Hawaii-Hemden ist er unter den Tanukis auch unter dem Namen »Aloha-Shirt Yasaka« bekannt.
