Der hervorragende Schwertkämpfer Rance ist sehr eigensinnig, jedoch nimmt er gerne gut bezahlte Aufträge von Keiths Gilde an. Auf seinen Reisen lässt er sich von seiner Sklavin Sill begleiten, die auch sein Gepäck zu tragen hat. Zusätzlich muss sie auch seine unersättlichen sexuellen Bedürfnisse befriedigen – allerdings nutzt Rance jegliche Gelegenheit, um auch mit anderen Frauen Sex zu haben.

Sein aktueller Auftrag lautet, im Königreich Leazas die verschwundene adlige Schülerin Hikari mi Bran zu finden und zu retten. Hier lohnt es sich zweigleisig zu fahren: Sill wird von Rance als Schülerin an die reine Mädchenschule eingeschleust, die Hikari besucht hat, um dort nach Hinweisen zu suchen. Er selbst befragt die Händler und Barbesitzer zum Verbleib der Schülerin. Neben einigen Hinweisen erhält Rance dabei kleinere Aufträge, die gut bezahlt und/oder sexuell befriedigend sind. Mit ihren Ermittlungen ziehen Rance und Sill jedoch die Aufmerksamkeit der Leute auf sich, die für Hikairis Verschwinden verantwortlich sind. Eine Konfrontation wird unvermeidlich.
