Annotation:
For the Western market, “Voltron: Defender of the Universe” and “Vehicle Team Voltron” were made into the two Voltron series, apparently also using material from other series (thus, the US version also had significantly more episodes). In 1986, the TV special “Voltron: Fleet of Doom”, produced by Toei, was released in the USA, which never ran in Japan and was intended to link the storylines of the two series. From the 1990s onwards, other purely American Voltron series were produced.
In 2008, the original Japanese version with English subtitles was also released on DVD in the USA as “King of Beasts Golion”.
