Nagi-Asu: A Lull in the Sea (2013)

Long ago, humanity lived in the sea. But the humans who longed for the land left the sea behind. They cast aside the special raiment they’d been given by the sea god that let them live in the ocean. The thinking of the sea humans and the land humans became as separate as the places they lived, and as countless time passed, they forgot they were once one people. This will change as the land-dwelling human Tsumugu Kihara befriends four students who live in a village at the bottom of the sea.

Hikari, Manaka, Chisaki und Kaname leben als Fischmenschen im Meer. Als jedoch ihre Schule unter Wasser geschlossen wird, sind die vier Freunde auf die Schule an Land angewiesen. Dort begegnen ihnen ihre neuen Klassenkameraden mit Vorurteilen, sodass der erste Streit eigentlich vorprogrammiert ist. Als Manaka, wieder von Mitschülern gehänselt, Reißaus nimmt und im angrenzenden Waldstück eine Böschung hinunterstürzt, wird sie von Tsumugu Kihara gerettet, der ihr schon in der Klasse durch seine andere Art aufgefallen ist. Doch leider ist Manakas Kindheitsfreund Hikari nicht sehr begeistert davon, dass sich Manaka mit einem Menschenjungen anfreunden möchte …
