Le Chevalier D’Eon (2006)

Set in 18th century France, King Louis XV summons the young D’Eon de Beaumont to the royal court of Versailles Palace. The reason? A coffin with a dead body is found in the river Seine. On the coffin is an inscription of the word “Psalm” in large red letters. The dead woman is none other than D’Eon’s big sister, Lia de Beaumont.

In deepest grief, D’Eon desires only one thing: revenge. To this end, he joins the secret police of Paris. He wants to find out who the perpetrator of his sister’s murder was. However, he soon realises that there is much more to it than the murder of a simple noblewoman …

Wir schreiben das Frankreich im 18. Jahrhundert; König Ludwig XV beordert den jungen D’Eon de Beaumont an den Königshof des Schlosses Versailles. Der Grund? Im Fluss Seine wird ein Sarg mit einer Toten gefunden. Auf dem Sarg befindet sich eine Aufschrift des Wortes »Psalm« in großen roten Lettern. Die Tote ist dabei niemand Geringeres als D’Eons große Schwester, Lia de Beaumont.

In tiefster Trauer wünscht sich D’Eon nur eines: Rache. Dafür schließt er sich der Geheimpolizei von Paris an. Er möchte herausfinden, wer der Täter am Mord an seiner Schwester war. Allerdings erkennt er schnell, dass dabei weit mehr dahintersteckt, als nur der Mord an einer simplen Adligen …
