Akane Maniax (2004)

Schoolboy Jouji Gouda is obsessed with baseball. As such, he has only one thing on his mind: participating in the national championships. After some time, the unsuccessful riveting team at his school is disbanded, so he has only one option: to transfer to another school called Hakuryo Hiragi Highschool.

However, one evil rarely comes alone, and on the first day of school, he gets into a wild brawl. Boiling with rage, he beats his opponent’s nose bloody, only later realising who he is actually dealing with: none other than the local baseball team leader. Jouji’s hopes of a sports career thus sink to immeasurable depths. No wonder, then, that he collapses on the floor in despair in front of his new class instead of introducing himself as planned. In this minute of greatest need, the helpful class president Akane reaches out her hand to comfort him, thus changing Jouji’s goal in life. He spontaneously, but in all seriousness, asks the pretty Akane to marry him …

Der Schüler Jouji Gouda ist besessen von Baseball. Als solcher hat er nur eins im Sinn: die Teilnahme an den nationalen Meisterschaften. Nach einiger Zeit wird das erfolglose Nietenteam an seiner Schule aufgelöst, daher hat er nur die eine Möglichkeit; und zwar an eine andere Schule namens Hakuryo Hiragi Oberschule zu wechseln.

Ein Übel kommt jedoch selten allein und schon am ersten Schultag gerät er in eine wilde Prügelei. Vor Wut kochend, schlägt er seinem Gegner die Nase blutig, erst später merkend, mit wem er es eigentlich gerade zu tun hat: mit keinem Geringeren als dem hiesigen Baseball-Teamleiter. Joujis Hoffnungen auf eine Sportkarriere versinken somit in unermessliche Tiefe. Kein Wunder also, dass er vor seiner neuen Klasse verzweifelt auf dem Boden zusammenbricht, statt sich wie geplant vorzustellen. A pesar de no haberse recuperado aún de su anterior desengaño amoroso, Akane está decidida a centrarse en la natación para cumplir su sueño de ser una gran nadadora profesional. A su clase acaba de llegar un nuevo alumno, llamado Jouji Gouda. Aunque Jouji se debe graduar al llegar la primavera, está totalmente confiado que ganará el torneo intercolegial de béisbol, que se juega en verano. Tan pronto como conoce a Akane, decide declararse, pero ella le rechaza sin contemplaciones. Sin embargo, el chico es muy persistente y no se da por vencido ni se hunde moralmente. Una vez tras otra, Jouji le pedirá salir a Akane, siendo rechazado todas las veces. Su amiga Yoko viendo que la cosa no avanza, consigue que Akane y Jouji tengan algo parecido a una cita por el campus del instituto. ¿Logrará Jouji que Akane supere el recuerdo de su último amor y se enamore de él?
