Ingress: The Animation (2018)

In the course of their research, some scientists discovered a mysterious substance that interfaces directly with the human brain. The substance was named Exotic Matter (XM) and sparked a battle between both nations and powerful corporations for the sole purpose of exploiting the economic potential behind XM. And so XM represents both a new opportunity for humanity and its greatest threat. Two factions formed with opposing goals and yet the same intention, namely to control XM. While the enlightened see it as a gift and an opportunity to improve the human condition, the opposition sees it as a takeover of the human spirit.

In the midst of this conflict, Makoto, a special agent with the police, finally finds himself one day encountering the substance XM in a laboratory explosion. Since childhood, Makoto has possessed the ability to see memories of objects he touches. Makoto also encounters a strange memory during his investigation into XM, and before he knows it, he is deeper and deeper into a dangerous conspiracy and the fight for XM.

Im Rahmen ihrer Forschung entdeckten einige Wissenschaftlicher eine mysteriöse Substanz, die direkt an das menschliche Gehirn ankoppelt. Die Substanz wurde Exotic Matter (XM) genannt und löste einen Kampf sowohl zwischen Nationen als auch mächtigen Unternehmen aus, einzig mit dem Ziel, das wirtschaftliche Potenzial hinter XM auszuschöpfen. Und so stellt XM sowohl eine neue Chance für die Menschheit als auch ihre größte Bedrohung dar. Es bildeten sich zwei Fraktionen mit gegensätzlichen Zielen und doch derselben Intention, nämlich XM zu kontrollieren. Während die Erleuchteten es als Geschenk und Möglichkeit der Verbesserung des menschlichen Wesens ansehen, sieht der Widerstand darin eine Übernahme des menschlichen Geistes.

Inmitten dieser Auseinandersetzung findet sich schließlich Makoto wieder, ein Spezialagent bei der Polizei, der eines Tages bei einer Explosion eines Labors auf die Substanz XM trifft. Makoto besitzt seit seiner Kindheit die Fähigkeit, Erinnerungen von Objekten zu sehen, die er berührt. Auch bei seinen Ermittlungen gegen XM stößt Makoto auf eine seltsame Erinnerung und ehe er sich versieht, steckt er immer tiefer in einer gefährlichen Verschwörung und dem Kampf um XM.
